FAMILIES KEEP THEIR COOL IN SPITE OF THE SUMMER HEAT

St Simons Island is such a lovely place to visit.  There is so much to do and see, so much history and beach fun for the whole family.  Or just a great place to do nothing at all.  We ate so much fresh shrimp, fruits and veggies from the local farmers market.  And saw plenty of sunrises…..we’re not really morning people, but when it’s 100 degrees outside, you start early or not at all.

The studio is already planning it’s 2013 Summer Fun Sessions. We plan to stay longer to explore more options for great seaside imagery.  Can’t wait!  Mark your calendars and we’ll keep you updated as we lock in our travel plans.  Thank you everyone that joined us this year.  We enjoyed bringing back a little of the ‘happy place’ that is the beach for all of you.

Good-bye Summer

Don’t you just love those long summer evenings where all you can hear is the comforting chirping of frogs and the whipperwhills calling softly to each other? The fireflies are creating beautiful golden spots of glow everywhere in the dusky, purple light. The days meld together in a haze of long, lazy sun-filled afternoons at the beach, and evenings spent eating fresh vegetables from the garden! The rocker on your back porch has become your best friend, since you can sit there for hours just enjoying the sights and sounds around you. The air is filled with the smell of freshly cut grass and that indescribable, magical scent that summer bestows on us! The final days of summer are spent basking in those last precious moments, because we know that they’re about to end. We soak in every last bit of the colorful views around us and cherish the beauty that this season has to offer.

Do you have a favorite summer memory? If you do, please share it with us!

Beach Sessions are Growing in Popularity

Shannah and I are always up for a beach trip.  Any excuse to get our toes in the sand.  The weather was perfect this time out, with giant popcorn clouds just perfectly positioned for our early morning session.  Little Lillian has been working with us since she was just a tadpole, and her personality is in full bloom.  Cup of girlie girl + pinch of sassy + teaspoon of an uncanny sense of humor = dynamic images every time.   Don’t you just love her cowgirl hat???

What’s New at Zoomworks!?!

Hello, Zoomworks Readers!

We’ve been quite the busy bees these past couple of weeks. We want to let you know what’s been going on and catch you up with the happenings. 🙂

We’ve done some pregnancy and beach sessions. I don’t know about you all, but nothing is better than working on a beach and blurring the line between work and play. And celebrating the forming of life is such a gift. Mommies-to-be always have such a radiant glow! Lots of love going around…maybe we brought it back with us with the St. Simons beach air.

But people aren’t the only thing we’ve captured in portraits recently. We were hired by a company out of Austin, TX to photograph one of their local properties. It’s always exciting to break out of our shells and be a little abstract. We make sure to be a company of many hats and make ALL types of clients feel welcomed.

That’s all we have for now. But we have PLENTY for you coming up. But one question: What’s new with you, Zoomworks readers? Have you been to the beach lately? Did you discover a new place in your local area? We want to hear all about it! [No really. We do. Please leave a comment for us to read. 🙂 ]

Beauty and the Beach

We love photographing “Trash the Dress” sessions.  Having fun and creating beautiful images is our idea of the perfect day.   We photographed Jenni at St. Simons Island since the beach was a special place to her.  Hair, Makeup and Styling by ZoomWorks.

Yellow Out this Spring

Spring has sprung and as you fold up your sweaters and box up the dark hues from your winter fashion prepare yourself for the bold colors that approach with the new season. One of these colors comes in the shade of a beautiful yellow. There is a lot of emphasis placed on this cheery color this spring as yellow embodies a universal appeal because it expresses happiness and an inner confidence. Its appeal also comes from the association of yellow with spring and summer as it reminds us of our favorite spot on the beach or vacations along the coastline…we can’t wait for that sunshine!

This striking color has a lot of dazzle, so if you’re a more mellow fashionista, this hue comes in softer shades as well such as a marigold, poppy or a pale yellow. Use this color in your accessories as an accent, such as a yellow clutch or a bright piece of jewelry. Another way to make a statement is pairing yellow with contrasting colors. For instance, other popular colors this season such as a light blue or denim will really make the yellow pop and have you glowing this spring.

Use this color in its most organic form this season as flowers bloom, enabling you to add a soft, natural detail to your ensemble. Yellow flowers are also a great detail to use in your wedding bouquet or centerpiece arrangements. Regardless of how you don this color, it will add a positive spin to your palette this season and add fresh detail to your life.

The last word in photography

ZoomWorks Photography….where to begin? First of all we love photography, we love people and we love the opportunity to capture someones essence, spirit and true emotions with our camera.
The “we” of ZoomWorks is our amazing team. Headed by Founders Shannah Cahoe Montgomery and Marisu Wehrenberg. Their respective backgrounds in fine art, photojournalism, fashion and styling led to the ZoomWorks vision and guides everything we do. Our extremely talented associates Deanna Pieniaszek and Alex Martinez, and our crew of faithful and amazing assistant photographers bring their own unique flair to the team.

We spend a lot of time at weddings and LOVE them. It’s not the kind of thing you can do half-heartedly, and certainly not for the 7 years and more than 1000 weddings we’ve photographed since the founding of ZoomWorks in 2000.

Traveling to destination weddings is always a pleasure, and can also present a unique set of challenges… but it’s always worth it when we get back amazing images! This year we’ve spent time on the Florida and Georgia coasts and in St. Thomas. Highlights have included the breathtaking views from the cliffs on St. Thomas, with the couple looking so amazing and radiating such pure, beautiful love that it could eclipse the natural beauty around them. There was the great beach party in Treasure Island, Fl and those gorgeous Gulf sunsets.  -Marisu and Shannah
