OK, when I say ‘garlic + pears,’ what comes to mind? Impossible combination, right? At least that was my first thought. But trust me, this is such a simple recipe and the flavor is delicate and lovely.

1/2 lb angel hair pasta
2 TB olive oil
3 lg cloves garlic, minced (we added a few more ’cause we’re Italian and you can never have too much garlic)
3 small pears, seeded and sliced (you can use Asian pears as well, which is what we made it with– we have a tree of them at home!)
1/8 tsp of crushed red pepper
Salt to taste

In a lg stockpot cook pasta according to pkg directions. Drain in a heavy skillet over medium heat, saute the garlic, pears, pepper and salt in oil for 3 min. Pour over pasta and toss to coat. Serve immediately.

We added some asagio cheese grated over the top, you can choose another to your liking, or none at all.

This recipe will give you four one-cup servings. It’s a great late summer meal with very little time spent in the kitchen. More time for enjoying a lovely glass of wine and the remains of the day.
