Fab Friday: Escape from Stress with Global Escapes

This is the first of a regular last Friday of the month feature from our friends at Global Escapes.  It will include honeymoon tips, luxury destinations, great travel deals, and more. Enjoy!

Now that I’m in the throes of planning my own wedding, I’ve come to appreciate my role as a travel consultant even more. Dan (my fiancée ) and I are faced with a seemingly endless parade of choices. I accidentally purchased a second-hand planning journal from Amazon, only half-completed by the bride; somewhere between flowers and favors, she’d scribbled the following SOS: I can’t decide anything.

When folks ask me about the relevancy of a travel agent in the age of internet, I explain how the term “agent” has been replaced by “consultant.” I love working at Global Escapes because we are providing not only a valuable time-saving service, but expert guidance. Nowhere is this more true than with honeymoon planning.

Weddings are expensive, and I’ve found that it’s easy to lose sight of budget. If Dan leaves me alone for too long in a room with a vendor, I’ve suddenly upgraded to the wooden chairs or the ecru invitations. In my teeming bride mind, it becomes reasonable to fork over an additional $100 for the glittered palm stands.

And yet even though the honeymoon is one of the most memorable parts of the wedding experience, many couples are unaware that travel consultants can help you pick the perfect destination for a minimal fee. At Global Escapes, we get to know you first, get a sense of your personal preferences (ie, she needs beach, he needs a 4 wheel drive excursion) before even making suggestions. I can’t tell you how many brides breathe a sigh of relief when I let them know I can take care of everything, from airport transfers in Jamaica to pizza making lessons in Italy.

In our office, we thoroughly enjoy what we do. Stop by and let us ease your mind. I promise we won’t talk you into the sparkled luggage tag.
